Micro-hybrid

The term “Micro-hybrid,” also known as “microhybrid” or “mild hybrid,” refers to a hybrid propulsion system used in automobiles. A micro-hybrid vehicle is equipped with an energy recovery system, also known as a start-stop system. This system automatically shuts off the engine when the vehicle is stationary, such as at a traffic light or in traffic congestion, and restarts it when the driver presses the accelerator. During the idle phase, the system can power the vehicle’s accessories, such as the air conditioning or audio system, using stored energy.

Unlike traditional hybrid vehicles, a microhybrid does not have a dedicated electric motor that assists with vehicle propulsion. The start-stop system improves vehicle efficiency and reduces emissions during urban driving, but the vehicle is not capable of operating solely on electric power.
