Electrification
Electrification
Electrification is the process of gradually replacing technologies powered by fossil fuels (coal, oil, and natural gas) with technologies powered by electricity. In this transition, transport plays a crucial role, as the main contributors to climate-altering emissions. For this reason, the term electrification is mainly used in relation to mobility and implies the gradual spread of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure towards a green mobility. Electrification is part of a broader eco-sustainable design that, in Europe, aims at decarbonization with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030.
The energy transition involves not only the electrification of transport but also intelligent and optimized energy management according to the principles of smart city management. Thanks to electrification, the future promises a cleaner, digitalized, and interconnected ecosystem for more efficient energy management and a sustainable contribution to the environment.
