OBC – Onboard Charger

OBC Onboard Charger

The OBC is a component of the charging system integrated within the vehicle, typically located near the battery, which is responsible for converting the alternating current from the electrical grid into direct current, useful for charging the lithium battery of an electric vehicle.

The OBC monitors the temperature and the battery charge level, ensuring a constant charging flow in a uniform and safe manner, preventing overloads or damages. The OBC handles the various charging modes, from slow to ultra-fast depending on the capacity and power of the battery. Additionally, it supports different standards: CCS, CHAdeMO, Supercharger and others, in order to enable charging at different types of charging stations.
