Over-the-air (electric cars)
The Over-the-air (OTA) system allows software and feature updates for the vehicle to be distributed and installed remotely, without the need to go to a service center.
This technology allows electric cars to improve battery efficiency over time, but also to optimize other aspects of the vehicle, as it enables updating the software and control systems of the car via SIM or Wi-Fi modules integrated into the infotainment system, thus ensuring that the vehicle is always updated with the latest features and improvements, without the need to visit a workshop. Thanks to OTA updates, cars can continue to improve their performance and range over time, providing drivers with an increasingly satisfying experience aligned with the latest technological innovations. Among the automakers that were among the first to introduce OTA updates are Tesla, Volvo, and Ford.
