Gigafactory

Gigafactory

The term Gigafactory refers to a production facility of gigantic dimensions designed for the large-scale production of batteries for electric vehicles (EV). The name was invented in 2013 by Elon Musk, founder of Tesla, to describe his highly automated and innovative factories. Today, however, other companies in the industry also refer to Gigafactory.

Technologically advanced, these plants utilize renewable energies to produce, at a minimal cost, batteries that are efficient and durable, with quick charging times. Their role is crucial in the production and dissemination of EV batteries within the ever-evolving electric market. The reduction in costs also allows EV manufacturers to offer vehicles at more competitive prices and with greater ranges, supporting the global transition to sustainable energy.
