Plug & Charge

The Plug & Charge technology, based on the ISO 15118 protocol, simplifies and automates the charging of electric and hybrid vehicles, allowing the user to simply connect the charging cable to the compatible charging station, without needing to use cards, apps, or keys. 

When a vehicle is equipped with Plug & Charge technology and is connected to an appropriate charging station, the two systems recognize each other and start exchanging information, including the identification of the vehicle and the owner, as well as the charging preferences. Once the process is completed, the vehicle disconnects autonomously, while the payment is charged automatically, without the need for manual operations. 

This charging mode works on both alternating current and direct current charging stations and is continuously being developed, as it requires both the cars and the stations to support the new technology. Thanks to the commitment of these entities, it will be possible to accelerate the adoption of charging standards and further simplify refueling.
