REEV – Range Extended Electric Vehicle

A REEV is a hybrid vehicle with two motors, a primary electric traction motor and a secondary internal combustion engine for support, with more compact dimensions. When the battery of the electric motor is depleted, the internal combustion engine generates energy for the battery, thus extending the range of the vehicle by a few kilometers. The hybrid formula of REEVs allows for zero-emission movement in most cases, but also to extend the range in situations where electric charging may not be immediately available.
