SOH – State Of Health (battery)

SOH State Of Health (battery)

SOH (State Of Health) refers to a percentage value that provides an estimate of the performance condition of an EV battery compared to when it was new. Thanks to this parameter, one can have an overview of the "health conditions" of the battery over time and the gradual decrease in its efficiency. From a maximum efficiency of 100% to a minimum of 0%, there are multiple factors influencing the SOH, including voltage, self-discharge, internal resistance, and SOC (State Of Charge).

Before changing a battery, it is essential to consider multiple variables to avoid replacing it prematurely compared to the actual end of its lifespan. In fact, it is a very valuable and expensive piece of the electric vehicle. In this sense, the SOH helps, as it is crucial for monitoring the efficiency and longevity of the battery and is mainly used to determine the resale or resale value of an electric vehicle.
